The MacNamara Courtyard, University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

The MacNamara Courtyard project was aimed at redeveloping an existing daycare play area at the University of Winnipeg Campus site. Rather than rebuilding the standard play area the client opted to introduce something fun and whimsical on the site. The final concept Lombard North Group had developed for MacNamara Courtyard was based on a fairy tale setting of a medieval castle. The site’s main entrance emulate the gate and draw bridge of an old castle while a large dragon, molded out of concrete and overlaid with paving brick, act as a play structure that slithers its way to make up part of the playground landscape.
